Let’s Rewind: Music

Remember how much fun iPods were? Same. You had music, audiobooks, and file sharing in your pocket without a single ad or care in the world. Well, my opinion of Apple has drastically changed since 2012, but the hidden value of an MP3 player has not.

Amazon Music? Goodbye!

Between CD’s, audiobook files, and some old ripped playlists I found, I ended up with a fun and nostalgic collection on my new MP3. Guess what? That little device costs less than a month of Amazon Music, but I own everything on it. Yes, even those purchased digital files companies try so hard to not let you actually download.

Which brings me to another gripe. If I’m paying actual money for a product, digital or not…I’m going to need to have full access to that product. Not a “temporary license to stream on their platform” with the very real risk of said company deleting your entire digital library and account. I’m looking at you Sony, Apple, and Amazon.

Anyway. My music is now portable and offline. I will need to find a CD player for at the house, but so far this has been a great start. One less subscription. One more thing off my phone. One more thing that has gone offline. One more reason to ditch the “Dots” in the very near future.

So who wants to listen to some millennial hope-core and break out those suspenders? I once again feel the need to stomp, clap, “Hey”, deep in my soul.
